It's located in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, north of Yuma.  The scenery on the drive there was gorgeous.We first made a stop at the Colorado mine. Hoover Dam was built in the early 1930s.One really odd thing about the town is that bighorn sheep roam through the city park. They were primarily farmers, but also did some hunting and gathering.  Montezuma Castle was a 5-story, 20-room dwelling with a view.Nearby is Montezuma Well, fed by a continuously flowing spring. I know it's kind of lame to take pictures of animals in cages, but I like it anyway. These turtles were in a pond outside the entrance. Apparently, everyone drops off their unwanted turtles here, and the place is being overrun.One problem of taking pictures at this particular zoo is that all the animals are in the shade. Much more reasonable and definitely worth it.Not only do you get to wander anywhere you want on the ship, you get an audio tour and the Ghosts and Legends Show. I was in heaven!!!There were also old wooden wagons with "flat tires" - probably my second favorite thing.Wow - does it get any better?This thresher was my very favorite, especially with the cactus growing under it.South of Independence is the town of Lone Pine.
